Evanescence’s Amy Lee covers U2’s 1987 hit ‘With or Without You’ through evocative gothic elegance, an eerie reverberated vocal echo replacing the guitar melody from the original. The haunting rendition showcases her falsetto vocals as well as her lower range, both supported by a slow hypnotic tempo that could be described as sluggish melodic dubstep, the sub-bass line just waiting for a drop. It’s hard to say if this version is just an emotionally overwhelming love song or a soundtrack to the next obsession horror film, but either way it’s begging for the subwoofer to be cranked.
