The Ghost Inside Involved in Fatal Bus Crash
The Ghost Inside was involved in a serious automobile accident on 19 November, killing two and injuring ten.
The Los Angeles heavy metal band was on their way from Texas to Phoenix when their tour bus collided head-on with an 18-wheeler semi truck on a two-lane desert road. The drivers from both vehicles were killed, Gregory Hoke of Texas and Steven Cunningham of New Mexico.
Ten passengers were injured. Those with serious wounds were airlifted to a nearby hospital, including frontman Jonathan Vigil, drummer Andrew Tkaczyk and guitarist Zach Johnson.
After the crash, the band posted a statement on their Facebook page reading, “All 5 band members and all members of the crew are alive and currently being treated for their injuries. Please keep them in your thoughts as well as their bus driver and those in the other vehicle who did not make it."
All remaining shows on The Ghost Inside’s current Locals Only US tour have been cancelled. A GoFundMe account has been set up to raise funds to help cover funeral bills and medical expenses for those involved.
Fellow metal band Bring Me the Horizon have donated $10,000 to the fund, along with other contributions from You Me at Six’s Josh Franceschi, This Wild Life, Atreyu, and Architects. The account has risen over $124,000 in three days.
