Commencing theatrically with synths that sound like shooting stars, Pierce the Veil’s first single in almost three years dropped almost unexpectedly, a pleasant surprise. ‘The Divine Zero’ brings together every signature element that the band has become known for – angst-ridden screams and explosive arrangements all wrapped up in a catchy chorus.
Being the first glimpse at what may be Pierce the Veil’s ‘monumental’ album to date, the single brings a fierce breakdown marked by its deflating guitar shrieks drawn together with achingly tormented lyrics, giving the band’s prior work ‘King For a Day’ and ‘Bulls in the Bronx’ a run for their money. Having left the masses on their toes for ages before releasing this single, it’s hard to say that the band’s new music won’t be worth the wait.
