Staying true to their unique post-hardcore style, the first track of Dance Gavin Dance’s newest LP hits with impact straight away, an instant classic in the DGD collection. Being that Instant Gratification is only the second record with latest frontman Tilian Pearson, his vocal characteristics fit perfectly in sync with the band’s upbeat harmony. The intricate guitar work of Will Swan is exposed and flaunted, flowing behind high drawn out notes continuously overlain with Jon Mess’s rough echoes and backing verses. ‘We Own the Night’ has so much going on melodically and yet it all works together to sound so effortless and laid back.
