Nate Ruess of fun. Releases 'Nothing Without Love' Video
fun.’s frontman Nate Ruess has released a music video for his new solo single ‘Nothing Without Love’.
The two-time Grammy Award winning songwriter has teamed up with previous collaborators Jeff Bhasker and Emile Haynie for the single, who had produced fun.’s second album Some Nights. The 2012 LP sold more than a million copies, produced three hit singles and won two Grammys.
‘Nothing Without Love’ was originally meant for the next fun. album, until the band announced via Facebook there is no next fun. album in the works. Instead Ruess is going solo.
"It would have been very easy for us to jump back in the studio and capitalize on our momentum," fun.’s statement read. "But making records and touring when it's 'good for business' means nothing to us. We make records and tour when we are inspired to do so."
Ruess told Rolling Stone that relationships within the band never soured, and that the success of bandmate Jack Antonoff's side project Bleachers had nothing to do with his decision.
Despite all of the side projects, fun. is not splitting up. In a lengthy statement to fans, the band spelled out that fact right away. “First and foremost to answer the question that has been raised most often: fun is not breaking up.”
