Insurgent Teaser Clip Released
The first teaser clip for The Divergent Series: Insurgent has been posted online. The film is scheduled to open in theatres on March 20.
Insurgent is the second film based off Veronica Roth’s Divergent trilogy of young adult novels. This film follows Divergent (2014), which grossed over $288 million (£183 million) in theatres worldwide.
Former director Neil Burger has been replaced with Robert Schwentke (Flightplan, Red) for Insurgent. The teaser clip features an intimate exchange between Tris (Shailene Woodley) and Four (Theo James). Woodley, James, Kate Winslet, Maggie Q, Ansel Elgort and Ashley Judd will all be back for the sequel and new cast will include Octavia Spencer, Naomi Watts, and Suki Waterhouse.
Insurgent's official synopsis states, "Tris and Four are now fugitives on the run, hunted by Jeanine (Winslet), the leader of the power-hungry Erudite elite. Racing against time, they must find out what Tris’s family sacrificed their lives to protect, and why the Erudite leaders will do anything to stop them. "Haunted by her past choices but desperate to protect the ones she loves, Tris, with Four at her side, faces one impossible challenge after another as they unlock the truth about the past and ultimately the future of their world."
The final two films in the series, Allegiant - Part 1 and Allegiant - Part 2, have been slated to follow in March 2016 and March 2017.
