New Band Feature: Lost Atlanta

There’s a new post-hardcore band on the scene and they are known as Lost Atlanta.

Lost Atlanta is a quintet from Manchester, founded in 2013. The band consists of vocalist James Drake, guitarists Elliot Robertson and Sam Lomax, bassist Rob Bashford, and drummer Sam Rees. Their main musical influences include Architects, Northlane and Emarosa. “As a band we have quite an eclectic taste of music,” Lomax stated.

The band is currently unsigned at the moment, but if a label approached them they would proceed somewhat warily. “I think every band would love be signed to a label and we’re not any different, but we would be really cautious but any deals we enter into. I think the issue nowadays is that bands can do a lot for themselves with enough persistence and probably don’t need a label until they reach a certain level.”

Their debut EP, Hold.Heart was released 12th September 2014, and is available for free through Band Camp. The EP contains five songs, one being an acoustic duplicate of ‘Eminence’. Lost Atlanta’s sound is reminiscent of bands such as Underoath and blessthefall. Their melodies comprise of a combination of high-pitched phrases and unclean wails. Complicated guitar solos shine through the interlaced vocals, working in conjunction with the overall haunting compositions.

Their newest single ‘Into the Grey’ was released 8th December 2014 and features Tim Henson of progressive rock band Polyphia. “Working with Tim was really easy,” Lomax stated. “We just sent him a version of the track over email and we just left him to it. Suffice to say, he absolutely nailed it when he sent it back, we are more than happy with the final product.”

Lost Atlanta are currently working on new material and planning on heading into the studio next week to record the second track of their upcoming EP. “So far we are halfway through the writing process and we are aiming to be back in the studio in the coming months to finish off the rest of the tracks.”

Tracks to check out from Lost Atlanta include ‘Into the Grey’ and ‘Hold.Heart’.
