Since Tuesday, the snowstorm had buried the city in nearly 1.8 meters of snow, and has since been blamed for twelve deaths. Although New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo advised that no one drive, those already on the road had no where to go. Over 150 motorists, including Interpol’s tour bus and their tour-mates Hundred Waters, were trapped on the highway for approximately 50 hours.

The band were on their way through Buffalo to play a gig in Toronto Tuesday night at Kool Haus. They announced their cancelation of the show around 4:30pm that day; “Dear Toronto, Our bus is trapped in a snowstorm just outside of Buffalo. We haven’t moved our position on the road in over nine hours. Unfortunately, we’ll have to cancel tonight’s concert at the Kool Haus. We were greatly looking forward to the show but the big bad winter has come early this year. We will be informing people of a new date as soon as we can.”

The band kept the world updated on their situation via tweets, live-tweeting pictures numerous times throughout the two days. Interpol guitarist Daniel Kessler tweeted, “Hour 13 trapped in the snow. Dry goods and vodka. We will make it.”

Hundred Waters made the attempt to venture outside their bus and found an open Tim Horton’s restaurant, though they later tweeted, “We’ve been trapped on The Road since Monday and Pastor Tim Horton is running out of Food.”

More frequent updates came from Kessler after the 30-hour mark had passed, and the band had to cancel another show in Montreal.
