Album of the Year Nominee: Devil by Chiodos
Gaining Craig Owens back as frontman was the best decision Chiodos could have ever made. Devil came just as the original line up was restored and blew the hinges off of what post-hardcore music was thought to be. The combination of slow acoustics, with rough guitars and emotional howling brought the record to the forefront of originality in the genre. The band denied the chance for anyone to tell them no and jumped off the cliff to take a risk. Each song is able and willing to stand on its own and brings lyrical brilliance to emotional topics. The innovative change in sound is something to be embraced, and makes the record worthy of acclaim.
