UPDATE: Toy R Us Ban Breaking Bad Figurines After Petition

Toys R Us has removed the Breaking Bad figurines from their shelves after a Florida mother’s petition gained over 9,000 signatures.

The action figures were based on the main characters of the show and equipped with fake toy guns and bags of meth. The petition stated that, “celebration of the drug trade make this collection unsuitable to be sold alongside Barbie dolls and Disney characters.”

A rival petition to keep the dolls on the shelves was also made, but only gained just over 3,000 signatures. “Toys R Us is well known around the world for their vast selection of toys for children of all ages, and we do mean ALL ages, that includes the adult collector market,” the petition stated, “It is NOT irresponsible to have these in the store. It is only irresponsible if they sell them to people they are not appropriate for.”

Bryan Cranston, who plays Walter White in Breaking Bad, joked in a tweet that the petition made him ‘mad,’ “Florida mom petitions against Toys 'R Us over Breaking Bad action figures.' I'm so mad, I'm burning my Florida Mom action figure in protest.”

Although Toys R Us had defended the sales of the figurines previously, they have now released the statement, “Let's just say, the action figures have taken an indefinite sabbatical.”
